I am a registered nurse, diploma educated, with a BSN and a M.Ed. I have been a L&D nurse since 1977 and am currently the Coordinator of Perinatal Education at Cottage Hospital. I serve as a Board member for the Association of Womens Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nursing (AWHONN) and just began my second, and last, term on the Board. I also am a member of the Community Health Advisory Council for the March of Dimes, and a member of the National Perinatal Association, Sigma Theta Tau, and the Perinatal Information System User Group (PISUG). I have been the assistant editor of the Mosby Pocket Guide to Fetal Monitoring and Assessment, the 5th edition, and a contributor and reviewer for the 4th edition. I am also a "retired" childbirth educator and was trained through a year long program at the University of Utah.
I am passionate about pregnancy and birth. I 've lived in Santa Barbara for 17 years and feel lucky to own a house in Goleta and live there with my fabulous dog who is nearly 15. I travel frequently and enjoy my life immensely. I feel a sense of obligation to further the practice of nursing in our community and love teaching students (nurses, medics, firefighters, you name it!).
